Brookline Pricing & Container Sizes

• 10-Yard Dumpster – $600 (Includes 1 Ton): Our most popular size for Brookline’s urban lots. At 12’L x 8’W x 4’H, it fits comfortably in a single parking space or a tight alley. Ideal for bathroom demos, attic cleanouts, and basement decluttering.

• 15-Yard Dumpster – $750 (Includes 2 Tons): The perfect solution for kitchen remodels, condo turnovers, and disposing of heavy debris. It holds approximately 90 trash bags while maintaining a footprint that avoids obstructing sidewalks or narrow streets.

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has established "Waste Bans" on certain materials to encourage recycling and protect the environment. These items are strictly prohibited from being disposed of in standard landfills or incinerators.

Because these materials require specialized transportation and recycling processes, disclosing them is mandatory, and they incur additional handling fees if placed in your dumpster rental.

MassDEP Restricted Items & Surcharge Schedule:

• Mattresses & Box Springs: $125 per piece (New state regulations require these be 100% recycled).

• TVs & Computer Monitors: $55 per screen.

• Appliances with Freon: $55 each (Includes AC units, refrigerators, freezers, and dehumidifiers).

• White Goods: $55 each (Includes washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers).

• Tires & Car Batteries: $55 per tire / $55 per battery.

• Propane Tanks: $55 per tank.

Weight & Rental Terms:

• Overweight Loads: $200 per ton (pro-rated).

• Extended Rental: $15 per day after the initial grace period.

Homestead Disposal will not accept any Asbestos, Medical Waste or any Liquid Waste (Paint, Oil, Solvents, etc.)  The disposal of hazardous or special wastes is strictly prohibited in our dumpster rental service in Massachusetts.

Special Project Dumpsters: Yard Waste & ABC/DEF

What is a Yard Waste Dumpster Rental?

A Yard Waste dumpster is specifically designed for the disposal of 100% organic landscape materials. These loads are taken to specialized composting or mulching facilities rather than landfills, which is why strict material separation is required.

• Acceptable Materials: Tree limbs, brush, shrubs, and organic woody material.

• Separation Requirement: Dumpsters are available for either Brush/Woody material or Grass/Leaves. These two categories usually cannot be mixed depending on the processing facility’s requirements.

• Strictly Prohibited: No rocks, dirt, sod, treated wood, or general trash.

• Important Note: Mixing any non-organic material (trash, plastic, or treated lumber) into a Yard Waste dumpster will result in the load being reclassified as general waste, incurring significant additional disposal fees.

What is an ABC / DEF Dumpster Rental?

"ABC" and "DEF" rentals are "Clean Load" containers used for heavy, inert materials. Because of the extreme weight of these items, we use a 4-yard maximum container size to ensure our trucks can safely transport the load.

ABC Dumpsters (Asphalt, Brick, Concrete)

• What’s Included: Clean loads of Asphalt, Brick, and Concrete.

• Mixing Rules: These three materials may be mixed with each other.

• Strictly Prohibited: No rebar, trash, wood, or dirt.

• The Contamination Penalty: If any trash, wood, or organic debris is found in an ABC dumpster, it cannot be taken to a recycling yard. It must be diverted to a transfer station, and the customer will be responsible for the entire weight of the load at $200 per ton.

DEF Dumpsters (Dirt, Earth, Fill)

• What’s Included: Clean loads of Dirt, Earth, or Fill.

• Strictly Prohibited: No other materials (including ABC materials) may be mixed into a DEF dumpster. The load must consist entirely of clean soil or fill to qualify for this specialized rate.

Why the Strict Rules?

When you rent a Yard Waste, ABC, or DEF dumpster, you are receiving a specific rate based on the fact that these materials are being recycled or repurposed. When "trash" or other debris is mixed in, the load is considered "contaminated." Recycling facilities will reject these loads, forcing us to haul them to a traditional waste facility where the weight and disposal fees are much higher.
